The single premiered with Clash who said, “Natives have always sought out unusual sounds, elements that differ from the norm… The complex, interweaving rhythms are led by a neat melody.”
On the writing process for the new single, guitarist Jack Fairbrother explains, “’Passion’ was the first song we wrote for this album, although it lived in an almost-finished state for over two years! The song tells a specific part of our overall album narrative, but the general theme is about the nervous feeling you get when faced with sharing things close to your heart. It’s about wanting to know that someone will care about something as much as you do.”
‘Passion’ is the latest taste of their forthcoming 20-track concept album, out next year. It follows the release of their previous single’s ‘Stop The Rain’ and ‘Chasing Lions’, which burst with their worldly pop sound.
Natives will be heading out on a full UK tour with Paramore guitarist Josh Farro and his upcoming solo project Farro. Starting today at the Waterfront Studio, Norwich, the nine-date tour will call at all major cities and finish at London’s Borderline on November 29th. Full tour details can be found below:
