Corinne Bailey Rae unveils second track 'Green Aphrodisiac'

Corinne Bailey Rae has revealed a second song, the sensual ‘Green Aphrodisiac’, taken from her forthcoming album 'The Heart Speaks In Whispers'.

‘Green Aphrodisiac’ was written by Corinne with Paris and Amber Strother from the LA-based future-soul band KING, and features musical contributions from Paris Strother, Esperanza Spalding and Miles Davis-bassist Marcus Miller. It is available to download now, with pre-orders of the new album.

"This song is inspired by intoxicating spring days lying in the grass in the afternoon, blossom and sunlight,” says Corinne. “The same thing that grows in the garden flows in me in you. Hope you get lost in it!"

‘Green Aphrodisiac’ follows Corinne’s return last month with ‘Been To The Moon’, which has been greeted with huge acclaim and affection on both sides of the Atlantic. With breathless commentary on the song from influential tastemaker sites and radio play around the world – including BBC Radio 2’s Jo Whiley who proclaimed, “This year sees the return, thankfully, finally of Corinne Bailey Rae; what a voice!” – it’s no surprise that Corinne’s first headline show for more than five years, at The Tabernacle, West London on April 7th, sold out in less than 60 minutes.

And today she is announced as the special guest on international superstar Lionel Richie’s UK tour in June, which includes three nights at The O2, London. Corinne Bailey Rae performed last month at the GRAMMY® MusiCares Tribute concert honouring Lionel Richie as their ‘Person Of The Year’, alongside the likes of Stevie Wonder, Dave Grohl, John Legend, Rihanna and Florence Welch.

Says Lionel Richie: “I always have a great time when I’m in the UK and I’m really pleased Corinne is going to be joining me on tour for these special shows.”

Lionel’s shows are world-renowned for their party atmosphere and audiences will be able to join Lionel in singing along to all the hits from his extensive and much loved repertoire spanning decades – all the way from the Commodores to the present day – including classics such as ‘Hello’, ‘Easy’, ‘Dancing On The Ceiling,’ ‘Say You Say Me’, ‘Three Times a Lady’ and ‘All Night Long’.

Says Corinne Bailey Rae: “I’ve always been a huge fan of Lionel Richie. His music has soundtracked many moments of my life. It’s an honour to be asked to join him on his British tour and I’m really looking forward to it.” For full tour dates see below.

Corinne’s third studio album The Heart Speaks In Whispers, is released on May 13th (on Good Groove / Virgin EMI). Her first collection of new material for six years, it is rich in fresh ideas and full of emotional energy surging through its songs like electricity. Recorded both at her studio in Leeds, and in Los Angeles, the album is co-produced by Corinne with Steve Brown, her collaborator on her critically acclaimed previous album The Sea.

Corinne Bailey Rae has also announced a six-city tour of the US, which starts in May taking in New York, Philadelphia, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco and Los Angeles alongside festival appearances at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival, and Cornbury Festival in the UK, and the Seoul Jazz Festival in South Korea and Blue Balls in Switzerland.

“Rejoice, world! Corinne Bailey Rae is back up in ya... the British soul phenom announced her return to the realm of music with a cosmically-tinged clip for the electric new single, ‘Been To The Moon.’” - Okayplayer

“The soft-singing songstress returns with 'Been To The Moon,' a familiar yet equal parts refreshing sound. She has sharpened her bite and returned by crooning of a tempting, eclectic, uncompromising love… Rae’s voice shines in its own light; She is back with a crisper, luminous tone that’ll make you want to hit replay.” - Saint Heron
