Melody exclusively revealed her new music withWonderlandalongside an interview explaining the song and her new musical direction.
‘Love Will Return’ is Melody’s new solo release, although she is currently riding high on global playlists with her fantastic vocal performance on the Spinnin Records/Harrison produced‘Freak Like Me’, which was released in early October.
‘Love Will Return’ by comparison is steeped in soul, and features grand horns, layered harmonies and tribal woodwind creating a bold cinematic sound reflecting the late 60s and early 70s eras of music. It plays like a Tarantino film score, while calling to mind the commanding voices of Nancy Sinatra, Shirley Bassey and Eartha Kitt.
Regarding the single Melody says, “I was standing in my kitchen, looking out the window at a scenic view of the hills in LA and started humming a Melody I’d never heard. I started to add lyrics and in 20 minutes I had the song ‘Love Will Return’ mapped out. It was my favourite song that only existed in my head.
“The entire evolution of the song was magic. I didn’t have to explain what I envisioned to the producer too much when I finally decided to record it. He felt it himself and delivered an incredible finished product. There’s just something spiritual about it. It moves me in a way like no other song I’ve written before. I can’t explain it. I don’t mean that in an arrogant way. The songs are like my babies and ‘Love Will Return’ is my Kim Kardashian.”
‘Love Will Return’ is the first taste of an exciting new project from Melody Thornton, with a wider breadth of work to be released in early 2020. The new music displays Melody’s true dexterity as a multifaceted singer, artist and songwriter.
The new single finds Melody revealing a side that fans have never seen before, displaying an honest representation of herself today, inspired by a whirlwind career of success as one of the biggest stars in pop. Her new music now reflects the vocal greats that have played influence into her career, while incorporating an exciting new edge of pop, blues and R&B.
