Malka

‘Taking It Back’ finds MALKA expanding her acclaimed dream-pop palette with a breadth of delectable synths, which leads to her most mesmeric sound yet. Her spellbinding voice dances over a rich instrumental landscape as she celebrates the overcoming of personal fears.

Regarding the new single MALKA says, 'Taking It Back' was written about overcoming personal demons and not letting fear get the better of you. Over the years there have been moments in my life that have seemed so overwhelming, but I have started to feel like I am able to take control of those moments.

“It was recorded with Paul Savage (Mogwai, Franz Ferdinand, King Creosote) at Chem 19. Paul played drums on the track for me, the whole process was so organic and instinctive and we both had the same vision of where to take the recording.”

‘Taking It Back’ sees MALKA continue to turn the pages of an exciting new chapter of her career, teasing the evolution of her sound in preparation for the unveiling of her forthcoming third album. More details on the album and live dates will be announced soon.

“Scottish alt-pop talent with a highly independent streak… the singer’s alt-pop sound doesn’t quite resemble anything else we’ve heard.”
Clash

“Combines the effervescent eclecticism of tUnE-yArDs with her own radio-friendly pop sensibilities.”
