The touching R&B track has been created with Nikita’s long-term producer Cores (Solange, Emeli Sandé, Gorgon City) and features soulful vocals, rich synths and atmospheric harmonies. The song illustrates two souls navigating a rapturous yet hopeless relationship.
Regarding the single Nikita says, “The song is about wanting to leave some kind of relationship but not knowing how; everyone’s version of that feeling is so different. Mine was a situation where both people were ultimately better souls without being wrapped up in each other, but were in too deep to let go so it just trailed on.”
The new music follows the release of Nikita’s highly acclaimed debut EP Satin in 2019. The alluring body of work was also produced with Cores and received huge praise from Rolling Stone, Harper’s Bazaar, The Independent, Mixmag, Clash, Flaunt Magazine and more. The songs also proved radio hits and received strong support from Radio 1 (Huw Stephens), the BBC Asian Network and BBC Radio London.
Influenced by her family’s varied musical tastes from Julie London to Massive Attack and Terence Trent D’Arby, Nikita's introductory EP connected with her Punjabi roots on a deeper level; world instrumentation intertwined seamlessly with her sensual yet sweet, electronic-tinged RnB sound.
The forthcoming Chapters EP promises to be an even more expansive example of her rich and beautiful songwriting.
