The Buckleys

The Buckleys release Australian hit 'Breathe'

Australian rising stars The Buckleys continue their ascent in the UK with their gorgeous new single ‘Breathe’, taken from their debut album Daydream, which came out at the end of September via Snakefarm Records in the UK.

A major hit in Australia, where ‘Breathe’ reached #3 on the airplay chart, its video finds the band on the ocean shores near their Byron Bay home as the sun sets.

‘Breathe’ follows the recent double A-side single ‘Woodstock 69’ (a summery blast of upbeat pop) and ‘Leave Me Hanging On’ (a cool cross between Taylor Swift and Sheryl Crow). Together, they’re the latest taste of the band’s fresh and exciting take on the sounds of Nashville, which has seen them pick up rave reviews in both their home country and the USA.

Critics on both sides of the ocean are hailing The Buckleys as the next breakthrough act on the country scene. SPIN, LA Weekly, Billboard and SiriusXM among others have showered the band with praise, with AAA Backstage claiming, “The Buckleys have a great knack for writing uplifting and lighthearted tunes with a unique vibe. [Their] future is super bright, as they have put together an album that showcases their natural ability to write memorable melodies and super catchy lyrics.”

American Songwriter lauded, "Every so often, something special comes along. Something so cool and authentic that the world has no choice but to sit up and take notice. The Buckleys are that special something." Guitar World pointed out their “infectious, feel-good hooks”, while The Honey Pop described them as a "blend of Country, Pop, Indie and Americana with a sprinkle of Fleetwood Mac."

Meanwhile, The Creative Issue rave that “‘Daydream’ is a collection of twelve sun-kissed country-pop songs that… captures The Buckleys beautifully as they follow the path they were clearly born for”, whilst Ticketmaster make it their Record Of The Week stating, “‘Daydream’ is a love letter to, and reimagining of, what country music can be, its foundations laid in their home of Byron Bay and crafted across ten days in their home away from home, Nashville. Across its 12 tracks, you’ll find touches of nostalgia for past decades like the ’60s and ’70s, wrapped in a modern Americana-folk-pop package.”

The Buckleys – siblings Sarah (20), Molly (17) and Lachlan (18) – deliver their own unique style of feel-good music which has seen them grow from busking on the streets of Australia’s music capital, Tamworth, to topping the country’s radio charts. Their debut album features the Australian Country Radio Number 1 hit and title-track, ‘Daydream’. Watch that video here.

“When the three of us get together, we love putting smiles on peoples’ faces and seeing them dancing and having a great time,” says Sarah Buckley. “Music is so powerful and making people happy and creating memories is definitely a place that we want to be.”

Combining their cool country pop charm with energetic and honest storytelling, The Buckleys are making big waves around the world with one of the most acclaimed debut albums of 2020.
