The Jacques

The Jacques release explosive new single 'Alka-Seltzer'

London four-piece The Jacques have shared their explosive new single, ‘Alka-Seltzer’, which premiered with Chris Hawkins on BBC 6Music yesterday. The release comes ahead of their headline shows at London’s The Water Rats and The Crofter’s Rights in Bristol later this month, and a support slot on the sold-out opening night of Feeder’s UK tour in Portsmouth on 1st November.

A relentless, thundering bassline underpins the track, which opens to a jarring burst of distorted guitar before launching full-throttle into a chaotic blend of infectiously twisted riffs and potent vocals. A dreamy passage of reverb-drenched instrumentals concludes the track, which is accompanied by an unearthly video that cuts between vivid and twisted footage of the band and dark, surreal animation.

“We wrote Alka-Seltzer just before Will joined the band a few years ago, although we had already met a few times... I liked him and I knew he could play so I already had my eye on him,”explains lead singer Finn.“I came up with the riff with him in mind in the hope that he might be impressed and want to join the band, which feels very funny to admit now. I’m sure he would find that funny too.”

Having established a devoted following in both the UK and Europe since their formation five years ago, particularly in France where they are true indie-heroes, the band have taken their time evolving and crafting new material.

‘Alka-Seltzer’ follows their previous single, ‘Kiss The Pharaoh’, released earlier this year. The tracks are a thrilling taste of what’s to come as they re-emerge from the shadows, back into the white-heat of the public eye.

Tickets for both their London and Bristol shows are on sale now. With more releases and live shows to be announced soon, The Jacques are about to shake up 2019 and inject true attitude and passion into the alternative scene. Get ready to be blown away…
