Toby Sebastian

Highly acclaimed British musician and actor Toby Sebastian has released his brand new single ‘Real Kicks’ via Kartel Music Group.

Influenced by the sounds of the late 60s and early 70s, ‘Real Kicks’ finds Toby bringing a fresh take on nostalgic folk, soul and pop with dreamy guitars, breezy melodies and his distinct wide-reaching husky vocals. The track delivers a wild sense of freedom and plays like a cross between Jake Bugg and The War On Drugs.

‘Real Kicks’ was recorded at RAK Studios and has been produced and mixed by Matty Benbrook (Paolo Nutini, Jack Savoretti, Dido) and Andrea Lepori (U2, Rolling Stones).

Regarding the single Toby says, “I started playing the melody a few years ago. When I’m writing music it either comes fast and hard or I mull over ideas for years. ‘Real Kicks’ was a slow burner but I knew it had something special. Every time I played a few chords people always remembered it and I think that’s due to the nostalgia that it evokes. It’s a road trip at sunset, falling in love for the first time, a sense of freedom and long summer days. The song to me is a journey. I guess it’s my take on the 70s music I grew up listening to.”

Toby launched himself into the public eye in 2012, beginning his career as an actor which has seen him play roles such as Trystane Martell in Game Of Thrones and portraying Andrea Bocelli in the biopic The Music Of Silence. His next onscreen role is as the supporting lead for the forthcoming Sky Original Coffee Wars alongside Kate Nash, Sally Phillips and Freddie Fox.

Toby self-released his debut album Into The Light in 2013 and following its release his acting career skyrocketed. Toby released new music in 2019 which presented a revitalised sound and instantly resonated with fans leading to his recent string of singles achieving multi-million streams.

Last year Toby released the single ‘Midnight’, featuring guest vocals from his sister Florence Pugh. The track has achieved over two million streams on Spotify alone and the song draws inspiration from the soul music they grew up listening to and is a homage to their childhoods spent singing and playing together.

Toby has been making an impressive mark on the London live scene, selling out headline shows at Islington O2 Academy in 2021 as well as Omeara in 2022, and has more huge live news to announce soon.

He is a proven multi-faceted talent and ‘Real Kicks’ is the first taste of a very exciting year of new music from Toby Sebastian.
